The rules a roster has to get right

Three things that are easy to miss when checking shifts by hand.

Any shift landing on a Sunday — including the half that spills over from a Saturday night — is flagged for Sunday pay.

Shifts falling on a public holiday are identified and marked, on either side of a midnight crossover.

Overnight shifts are divided into day one and day two, with hours calculated separately so nothing gets counted twice.
